Minimum Wages in West Bengal: Are Basic and DA Treated Separately Like Other States?

Dear Seniors, Whether minimum wages for West Bengal - Basic & DA are separate like in other states since the notification does not mention anything about VDA. Kindly clarify. Regards, Selvam

Yes, it is surprising that the notifications do not mention Variable Dearness Allowance (VDA), whereas it is stated that "minimum rates of wages and variable dearness allowance, IF ANY, both shall constitute minimum wages to be enforceable as per the Minimum Wages Act." The words "if any" make it clear that there is no VDA if not separately mentioned. However, in all other states, there will be a separate notification on VDA.
