Concerned About Name Change in UAN Affecting New Job Start? Here's My Situation

Dinesh Selvaraj
I have applied for a name change request in the UAN portal online. Currently, my name is registered as Dinesh in my UAN, as my previous employer created the UAN using my name as Dinesh. Recently, I updated my name to Dinesh Kumar in my Aadhaar card, as my actual name is Dinesh Kumar in all my educational documents, birth certificate, and other records. Therefore, I applied for a name change in the EPFO portal online. It has been approved by my employer but is pending with the PF field office. I am scheduled to start a new job next week. My concern is whether the new employer will be able to create a new PF account using my name as Dinesh Kumar since my name in the UAN is currently registered as Dinesh. Will this discrepancy affect my joining the new job? Your assistance is much appreciated.

Hi, If your existing UAN is activated with Aadhaar, there will not be an issue. It automatically captures even if there is a modification.

Hi, to the best of my memory, you are posting this question for the third time. You had already posted the same question in two different threads, and a reply was given by senior members.

Checking with the PF Office

Normally, the PF office would take some time. If your PF office is in Chennai, you may check with the respective PF office (Ambattur/Royapettah/Tambaram) Public Relations Officer (PRO), who will be able to assist you. If the PF office is in another district, you may check through your HR.

Handling Name Change Requests

It is suggested that you can wait for the change in name as applied or alternatively submit a copy of the name change request to the new office HR to prepare the appointment letter in the same name. However, mostly they will be reluctant to do so.
