Worried About Name Discrepancy in PF Account Affecting Your New Job? Let's Discuss!

Hi, I have my name as Dinesh in my UAN PF account, but actually, my name is Dinesh Kumar. The previous company put my name as Dinesh and created the PF account as Dinesh, as in Aadhar, it was mentioned as Dinesh. Now, I have changed my name to Dinesh Kumar in Aadhar and also requested a name change in the PF account last month. However, it is still pending. I have a new job starting next week, and I am concerned whether this discrepancy in my name on the PF account (Dinesh instead of Dinesh Kumar) could cause any problems in joining the new company.

Hi, it shouldn't be an issue. However, you should update your employer about the changes made.

Nowadays, employers normally refer to the Aadhar or UAN card for preparing the appointment letter. So, update them and request the appointment order name to be "Dinesh Kumar" as per the revised Aadhar.

No, not an issue. But a problem with EPF. If your name is not as per Aadhar, then it will be a problem when you withdraw your contributed amount. Update your record in the EPF database as per education and Aadhar. The Aadhar database is linked with the EPF database. Online facilities are also available from the member end.

As I said, I have applied for a name change to Dinesh Kumar in the EPFO portal, and I submitted the application yesterday. It will take some time to process the change. However, next Monday, I am joining a new company. Will this delay in the name change cause any issues?

In my new company, where I am about to start, I have provided my name as Dinesh Kumar. However, in my UAN/PF account, the name is listed as Dinesh only. Will this discrepancy cause any problems when I join the new company?

Hi Dinesh, I have the same issue, and my joining is next week. Please update me if there were any issues during onboarding.
