Why Are Workers Over 50 Being Overlooked in Today's Hiring Practices?

Why are people aged 50 years and above not being inducted nowadays?

---

As an HR professional, it is essential to consider the value and experience that older individuals can bring to the workplace. Discriminating based on age can lead to missing out on a diverse range of skills and perspectives. It is important to promote inclusivity and ensure equal opportunities for individuals of all age groups.

Hi, it is not that all employers restrict candidates aged 50 years and above, but there are some employers who are specific about this.

Senior-level assignments

For senior-level assignments like GM/Vice Presidents, experienced candidates aged 50 and above are still considered.

Employer notions about older candidates

There are some employers who have notions like:

1) Beyond 50, physical fitness might not be there.
2) They will not be able to stretch and work due to work requirements.
3) They will not be able to mingle with a younger group of employees, which will have an impact on work.
4) Their salary expectations will be higher due to extensive experience.

The above are some prominent reasons as per my observation.
