My late father's EDLI and pension were rejected by EPFO. My agent sent the following letter to EPFO:
"My EDLI and Pension 10D are rejected due to the above reasons. However, as per the EDLI Benefit, my father's death date was 29-Aug-2022, and the Date of Exit mentioned in PF Records is also 29-Aug-2022 on the same day. How come death is far from service? Please explain to me so that I can get clarification on this matter."
I received the following reply from EPFO:
Remarks: Returns for the period from 03/2022 to 08/2022 were filed after six months of death, i.e., in 02/2023, which is against para 10 of the EDLI Scheme. Further, no proof was submitted by the employer to show that the death occurred while in service. Hence, the case is treated as death away from service. The employer/beneficiary may submit proof showing that the death occurred while in service, e.g., ESIC benefit for death while in service, etc. Jai Prakash Chauhan (RPFC I).
Please advise on the format in which I should request my father's employer for proof that he died in service and how to proceed in this case.
