Employee engagement - Employees are asking to implement weekly activities - Is it okay to take their time after working hours for these leisure activities?

Dear professionals, Some of our employees are asking to implement weekly activities. Our is an IT firm. One constraint with us is time. Can anyone propose some kind of activities for them? Is it okay to take their time after working hours for these leisure activities if they are okay with it?
Looking forward to your response.

It is fine to have some such social activities on weekends, but don't term them as Employee Engagement (EE) activities unless these are designed for the purpose. A sporadic get-together of the employees or social evenings will not become EE unless there is a conscious attempt to build the emotional involvement of employees in the company. if it is to be EE then you will have to first of all diagnose the situation and do planned activities to raise the EE level.

Hi Priya,

Its important to also check with employees if they are okay to participate in the weekend or post working hours. Ideally, Friday post 3 or 4 pm would be a great time if the management is okay with the same.

Hi,

Conducting Employee Engagement activities after office hours is not desirable. You may plan during office hours.
