Resigned and Now Asked to Work In-Office: How Should I Handle This Sudden Change?

starfish
Hi all, I need your advice. I have resigned from my current organization where I worked for 2.5 years, mostly from home. Now, just after submitting my resignation, they are asking me to come to the office to serve the notice period. Despite the company operating in a hybrid mode, they expect me to be in the office five days a week. Additionally, although my offer letter mentions accommodation, they are not providing it and are instructing me to report to the office in Bengaluru within two days. What should I do?

Whether you should work from home, the office, or in a hybrid mode is a decision made by management. If your appointment order states an accommodation in Bangalore, they should provide it. Therefore, you should report to the Bangalore office and request whatever is outlined in your employment contract. Not adhering to the office order may lead to serious misconduct. In today's HR landscape, where background verification is crucial, any negative feedback could harm your career. Hence, it is important to complete the notice period as instructed by management.
