Hi, I'm an HR professional with 6 years of experience, mainly in Talent Acquisition. I am interested in transitioning into Payroll and Compensation and Benefits roles as well. Can you recommend any books or courses to help me learn more about these areas? It seems challenging to secure a job in these fields without prior experience. Thank you.

As per my knowledge, there might be very limited books on payroll. It is advisable to learn the acts related to payroll and calculations such as ESI, EPF, PT, IT, LWF, Gratuity, Bonus, etc., which will help in preparing the salary calculations, breakups, etc.

Besides the statutory aspects like the Payment of Wages Act 1936, Minimum Wages Act 1948, Payment of Bonus Act 1965, Payment of Gratuity Act 1972, etc., for which you may consult bare acts, you should read articles on recent trends in compensation management appearing in HR journals. On YouTube, you will find short videos on these subjects.
