Conjunctivitis at Work: Should a Sent-Home Day Be Paid or Count as Leave?

Hi, Our organization is a small healthcare organization that employs consultants. If an employee is found to have conjunctivitis during work hours and is sent home, will that day be considered a paid day or leave? We do not offer leaves to employees who have not completed six months. Only after six months of employment, the employee becomes eligible for one casual leave per month.

Hi,

Any leave of absence from work (unless authorized by the employer for official duty) should be considered as leave only. In the absence of leave, it has to be considered leave without pay.

Why no leaves for the first 6 months?

But why no leaves for the first 6 months?

Hi Saritha,

Engaging Employees as Consultants

First of all, how can you engage employees as consultants? I believe you are from Hyderabad. As per the Telangana Shops & Commercial Establishment Act, SL/CL of 12 each shall be provided from the day of joining on a pro-rata basis.

You have to pay for that day of presence, and he was not absent; rather, you sent him back without proper guidelines. Further, you should have notified the employees beforehand. I don't think conjunctivitis is an epidemic.

Jeevarathnam P, I think the leave will be available after the completion of one year, so in the first year, there is no paid leave.
