How Can I Find Suitable Insurance for an Employee's Family in Nepal?

Dear Respected Sir/Madam,

In my current company, one of the employees has exceeded ESI eligibility. Now, as per our company policy, I have to deduct a small amount from his salary for insurance. However, his family and native place are in Nepal while he is currently working in Chennai. If I deduct this insurance amount, it may not be beneficial for his family members in the future.

He is not aware of this situation. Could you kindly suggest and guide me on finding a good insurance coverage option in Nepal? This would be helpful for his family members during any emergency.

Thanks & Regards,

Hi,

There are insurance companies in Nepal. But how would you, as an employer based in India, cover insurance for your employee's family through a Nepal-based insurance company? I suggest indicating the coverage ceiling and your budget for the premium on an annual basis to the employee. Ask the employee to apply for Mediclaim or life cover (as per your company policy) in Nepal and request them to provide the policy copy and premium paid receipt for reimbursement by your company. Special approval from your employer is necessary for this process. Simply providing money for insurance coverage may not result in the desired coverage, as the employee could spend the money elsewhere. Therefore, it is important to insist on receiving the policy copy and premium paid receipt for reimbursement. I hope this information is clear and helpful.
