Facing PF Claim Rejection Due to Exit Reason: How to Correct and Choose the Right Option?

Arun.Marinor
Dear Members,

One of our ex-employees who had resigned from the company is facing a new problem with his PF withdrawal claim. His claim was rejected with the reason "Update Reason of Leaving."

We have been exiting resigned employees with the reason "CESSATION (SHORT SERVICE) - Any Other reason" for want of anything more appropriate for resignation cases. In this subject case also, we had provided this exit reason.

Doubts Regarding PF Withdrawal Claim

a) What should be done in this specific case? How do we/the affected PF member update the "reason of Leaving"?

b) What is the correct "Exit Reason" to be provided in the PF portal while exiting a resignation case? The Exit Reasons available in the PF site are:

1) Retirement
2) Death in Service
3) Superannuation
4) Cessation (SHORT SERVICE) - Any Other reason
5) Cessation (SHORT SERVICE) - The Employee's ill health
6) Cessation (SHORT SERVICE) - The contraction or discontinuance of the employer's business
7) Cessation (SHORT SERVICE) - Other causes beyond the control of the EMPLOYEE.

Where does one fit in a resignation in the above reasons?

Thanks & Regards

Hi, For resigned cases, the reason "CESSATION (SHORT SERVICE) - Any Other reason" is correct and appropriate. At times, employees with marked exit dates are complaining that their Date of Exit (DOE) is not updated. This might be due to a server issue, I think.
