The basic is 12433, and the employee joined on 21 May 2023. What will be the amount for ESIC calculation in May month?

What is the salary that you have paid for 10 days (if the employee has joined on 21st May, naturally he will be paid only for 10 days) that will qualify for ESI.

For ESI all components except washing allowance (provided the employee is given uniform) and conveyance allowance are considered.

4304 paid for 9 days as there were two sundays betwen that period

Deduct and contribute ESI on the gross. If the said amount, ie, 4304 is before deducting ESI, then deduct 0.75% of it as employee's share and contribute 3.25% of it as employer contribution.

(Is Rs12433 not your gross/ ESI qualifying salary? Then how does it come to 4304 for 9 days?)

Hi,

Few questions:

21.5.23 is Sunday. Did the employee joined on Sunday ???. I hope the DOJ should be 22.5.23

After 21.5.23 there is only one Sunday which is 28.5.23. As salary is inclusive of Sunday as well you should consider the total earned Gross salary for the month of May,23 right from DOJ of the employee.

Why are you sticking to Basic salary ? ESI to be calculated on earned Gross salary and not on Basic Salary.

What is the relevance of deducting ESI on minimum wages payable? If the given amount, ie, 12433, is the Minimum wages, it should be for one month and for an employee joined on 21st May need only be paid proportionately.
