Feeling Stuck in BPO? Seeking Advice on Transitioning to an HR Career After 6 Years

Hi, I have completed an MBA in HR and Marketing from the 2016 batch and am currently working as a TL in the BPO domain in the Finance profile. Due to a lack of HR job opportunities when I graduated, I had to take a BPO job to survive. It has been almost 6 years now since I started working.

However, I am now eager to transition my career to HR and align it with my aspirations, as I do not see much growth in my current role. Could anyone please help and guide me on how to land a job in HR?

However, reality hit hard, and I could not find an HR job. Due to that, I shifted my focus towards survival in a metro city, Delhi, and ended up in a BPO job at Accenture. Everything was sorted, and I had personal commitments as well. Now, after around 6 years, I am feeling stuck in my career and desperately want to switch to the HR domain.

With six years of work experience in a reputable company, it is essential to analyze this experience from an HR perspective—identifying both strengths and areas for improvement. Looking for an HR job just because you feel stagnated in your career is not the right reason for entering the HR domain. It is also not necessary that since you studied HR (without putting much thought into why you chose it), you have to remain in this domain. You need to introspect and find out what your true interest is, and only then will you be able to excel in that.

Hi Both, thanks for your kind suggestion. I have always wanted to get into HR and have even appeared for interviews and applied for IJPs at Accenture. However, bad luck struck as either the requirement was for an experienced candidate or, in the IJP, the position would go to someone else. Then came COVID, during which having a job was more than enough, along with the comfort of working from home. In this process, almost two years have gone by, and now I am again looking for HR jobs as I really want to grow in this field.
