How Do I Process an Intern's Stipend and Benefits in Karnataka's Payroll System?

I just joined as an HR in a Karnataka-based company.

Intern Stipend Processing

We hired an intern (paid 10,000 rupees). To process her stipend in the payroll system, what do we need to write? For example, for Employee A, do we write "Salary March 23 A"?

Intern Benefits and Deductions

Also, do we need to pay PF for the intern? Or any other benefits? Do we also need to pay Karnataka PT for an intern?

Hi, If you are referring to college final-year students who do internships as part of their curriculum requirements with the necessary certificate issued by the college, then there is no need for PF or PT deductions. However, for freshers hired under the designation of trainees or interns, you need to deduct PT, PF, and ESI.
