Hi,
Career growth in HR and other fields
Career growth of an individual, either in HR or any other field, depends primarily on the individual's capabilities and also on how they seize opportunities at the right time in the workplace. "Opportunities are usually disguised as hard work, so most people don't recognize them." - Ann Landers. The above is a general perception.
HR in the education sector
As far as the education sector is concerned, the scope of HR will be very limited once the HR processes are defined and formulated, as everything will move routinely. You might not encounter major conflicts or disputes where HR intervention is required, or it will be very minimal. Also, the attrition rate will be minimal as long as salaries are nominal. The scope for learning will not be significant.
HR in a corporate setting
On the other hand, the role of HR in a corporate setting (whether in non-IT/IT/ITES or factories) would be challenging in all aspects, from recruitment to the exit process, where the HR role will be vital. Here, HR will face different issues on a day-to-day basis, providing valuable learning opportunities.
It is up to the individual whether to be satisfied with mundane HR processes or to be part of the cornerstones of effective Human Resources Management like recruitment and selection, performance management, learning and development, succession planning, compensation and benefits, Human Resources Information Systems, and HR data and analytics.
