Overworked and Unpaid: Can We Take Legal Action Against Our Company for Excessive Hours?

Bablu Babu
Hello, I am working in an NBFC, which is a Limited Company. I just want to ask: is there any legal action that can be taken against the company if they make employees work more than 12 hours? My office hours are supposed to be from 9:30 am to 6:30 pm, but no one is allowed to leave before 9:30 pm. The minimum working hours here are 12, and it can go up to 15-20 hours, but they do not pay for overtime. This firm has over 20,000 workers, and none of us are compensated for the extra hours worked. I am seeking help in this matter as I am fed up with this situation, and it's not just me; all employees in the company are facing this issue. Please advise me on what steps I can take in this situation and where I can file a complaint. We have all the necessary evidence, but we are unable to share it.

Hi, do you have a registered union? If so, they can represent you. In the absence of a registered union, please contact the Labour Inspector of your office jurisdiction, who can assist you.
