Feeling Trapped by a Hostile Work Environment: Should I Seek Legal Help or Approach the LCC for POSH?

Samantha
I resigned, explaining to my company that it was due to a hostile work environment. I provided all the reasons and asked for an explanation, but I never received a written explanation. Instead, I was verbally told that as I am questioning all COOs based on statements made by the CEO, as HR, I should understand how all COOs are also helpless and cannot answer my questions. If I had stayed and asked questions, that would have been different, but after handing in my resignation, they could not answer.

This hostile environment was created by the CEO specifically towards me. They insisted that I be present in discussions with him where he denied the threats made against me during our one-on-one sessions. Although it was a case under the Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) Act, I did not file a formal complaint but reported it verbally to one of the COOs. She discussed it with the CEO, and he apologized to me. However, after two months, he threatened me again, which led me to resign.

Please advise if I should approach the Local Complaints Committee (LCC) for POSH or seek legal counsel. I seek justice in this matter as I believe the CEO and two COOs have swept the issue under the rug.

Kindly suggest.

Hi, sorry to hear. For these issues, evidence is important; otherwise, the case may be misconstrued as you blaming someone due to personal reasons. You may consider approaching the LCC for assistance.
