Confused About Bonus Calculation Dates? Need Clarity After My Interview!

Respected Seniors, Good Evening! I had an interview today, and they asked me about the date for bonus calculation. I mentioned it is from January to December (calendar year), but they insist that the bonus is calculated based on the financial year. Can you please clarify this for me briefly?

Bonus is calculated on the basis of a balance sheet. Therefore, the financial year of the organization will decide the bonus period. It is normally April-March. You can pay it within eight months of the close of the financial year.
