Worried About Job Security After Manager Learns of Past Freelancing – Could I Be Fired?

I have been working in a big MNC for the last 6 months. Previously, I was employed in a very small organization with a low salary, so I was also doing freelancing jobs. Since joining the new MNC, I have not engaged in any moonlighting work. A month ago, an acquaintance joined my current MNC and informed my manager about my past freelancing work. However, this person does not know the name of my part-time company. There was no PF account associated with the freelancing work, only the knowledge that I did some freelance projects. I am concerned about whether my current company will take any action against me due to this revelation. Is my present job at risk? Could they terminate my employment because of my past freelancing activities?

Hi, why so many assumptions? You freelanced before joining your current employer, and now you work for an MNC. What you did in the past is not relevant to your current situation since you are not currently engaged in any part-time work. There is nothing to worry about. Your current employer will not terminate you for your past freelancing work. They are only concerned about your current activities.

The only people who can answer questions about your current employment are the company themselves. None of us work for your company, so we cannot possibly tell you what they might think or do.

So long as you have not withheld any relevant information regarding your background check and the fact that you have been employed for 6 months so far, it would appear there are no problems. In the meantime, tell your friends to keep their mouths firmly closed in relation to personal matters.
