Stuck in a Job: How to Handle a Resignation Refusal and Move Forward?

pinaki-paul
My branch manager and HR are not accepting my resignation request because of March. They have threatened that they will not approve it. I have resigned and served a notice period of 1 month. In that case, if they don’t accept it, I will not be able to join my next employer. How can I get rid of this situation? Kindly help.

Hi, resignation is the choice of the employee. As long as you are serving the proper notice period as per the terms and conditions of your employment, the employer has no other option except to accept it. They can convince or negotiate to revoke the resignation but cannot compel you to continue or threaten that the resignation will not be accepted.

Request them to relieve you as you have served the proper notice period. If needed, and if they request, serve an additional notice period to complete any pending assignments.
