Maternity Benefits Act - Can we hold employee salary when she is on maternity leave and give once she rejoins the company?

if employee falls under Esic Act, How maternity Act will be work ?

If an employee is under ESI, she will get the benefits offered under the Maternity Benefits Act from the ESI Corporation. The employer can mark the leave (26 weeks) as ESI Leave which is always without pay from the employer.
