Struggling with Interview Questions? Tips for Selecting the Right Candidate in Various Sectors

Nisha_82
Hi all,

I am very new to this group, but happy to be a part of such a wonderful forum. Can someone help me in taking the interview effectively? In fact, I am working as a team leader in recruitments. However, I am very confused about what to ask the candidates during the interview. We recruit for insurance, retail, and other sectors. So, kindly help me in selecting the right candidate, please! :)

Thank you.

Thank you so much. One more clarification: while talking to freshers, is it enough to do just the ice-breaking session or probe more to find out whether they really are in search of a job. :)

Hi Nisha,

The question list attached by Ms. Kanupriya would be useful for you. Moreover, you need to update yourself on the specific industry vertical. For example, if you are hiring for investment banking, you should have a basic understanding of that industry, major players, common terminologies, concepts, etc. Additionally, you can ask the concerned line manager to provide you with a brief write-up on the required competencies for the candidates.

Being a recruiter, you should update yourself on a continuous basis. The mode of interviewing is also important (may vary from level to level). Try to get some good books on effective interviewing and update yourself.

Best of luck

Dear Nisha,

Freshers are all interested in jobs unless they are determined to study further. So you should rather evaluate a fresher in terms of commitment towards work, their long-term and short-term career paths, and their willingness to learn new things and adapt themselves to the corporate environment.
