Does an IT company in India have a separate act? Though I searched through many mediums, I can't find a perfect format act for IT companies. So, people of this medium, if you know, kindly let me know so that people like me can also gain the knowledge.

Hi,

There is no separate exclusive Act for IT/ITES Companies.

Like other company sectors, some important employment laws that bind software companies are as follows:

- Shops and Establishments Act
- The Employees’ Provident Fund & Miscellaneous Provisions Act, 1952
- The Employees’ State Insurance Act, 1948
- The Employees’ Compensation Act, 1923
- The Payment of Bonus Act, 1965
- Equal Remuneration Act, 1976
- Industrial Employment (Standing Orders) Act, 1946
- The Maternity Benefit Act, 1961
- The Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition, and Redressal) Act, 2013

For the registration of IT companies and the service conditions of employees working therein, there is no separate Act, but the state's Shops and Commercial Establishment Act will have to be followed.
