Navigating Professional Tax Issues: Should I Push for My Last Date to Be Set?

Free soll
Hi, I have recently joined an organization as a trainee. A PF number has been created, and Professional Tax is being deducted. However, the PF will not be credited until I become a full-time employee. My previous organization has not yet set my last date.

Should I ask my current employer to immediately set my end date?

Will the professional tax paid by present and future employers get me into trouble?

Hi, why has your previous employer not yet marked your exit date even after you joined a new employer? Your previous employer should update the exit date in the employer portal to be before your joining date with the new employer. Please follow up with your previous employer to ensure this is done; otherwise, it may lead to a conflict.

Will it result in a clash even if the PF is not credited? What could be the result of the clash?

Hi, with regard to multiple professional taxes deducted for the same financial year, you cannot claim them back. However, you can avail of income tax exemption provided you fall under the purview of income tax deductions.

Hi, if your joining date with the new employer is earlier than the previous employer's LWD, then you will face issues with claiming/transferring your past employer's PF.
