Is It Legal to Deduct Sunday Pay if Employees Work Less Than 4 Days? Seeking Advice

HR Soulgenie
Hello all, Our company has a rule that if an employee attends the office for less than 4 days, even for 3.5 days, then their Sunday salary also gets deducted. I want to know if this rule comes from labor law.

Example:
For example, if Mr. X attends the office on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and half-day on Thursday, then our company pays him only for 3.5 days and deducts the salary of Sunday as well.

Question:
How many days of work are compulsory to get paid for Sunday also? Please provide your valuable feedback.

Hi, Not a right practice. Only in the case of long leaves in between should Sunday be considered, and that should also be adjusted against accrued leave.

Hi, this is the wrong practice. There are no such rules, but in fact, only mention that for weekly off after 48 hours of working.

The current practice you follow is not in accordance with any labor law. Your practice is not acceptable to a monthly-rated employee. Kindly confirm whether your establishment is a factory, as defined under the Factories Act.
