Worried About Gratuity? Leaving Early After 8 Years: What Happens to My Benefits?

rahul-kadam
I have completed 8 years of service in my current organization and have now resigned to switch jobs to a new company. However, my notice period here is 90 days, but I do not want to serve the full notice period as I intend to join the new company in 30-40 days. If my current organization does not release me and I am forced to leave, will I still receive my gratuity for the 8 years of service?

I understand that they may consider me absconding and may not provide me with an experience letter, but I would like to know if they will withhold my gratuity amount.

Thank you.

Hello, you can talk to your reporting manager or management about this and try to convince them smoothly because you need to complete the clearance process. If you do not serve or complete your notice period, the employer will deduct notice period recovery from your salary. If you are unable to serve the notice period, you can buy out the notice period by paying the equivalent amount of your salary for the days you are not working during the notice period.

Gratuity Benefit
You are eligible for the gratuity benefit, and you will also receive it.

There's nothing to worry about; present your problems transparently to management, and you will get a positive response!

Hi, while an employer is bound to pay gratuity even if you abscond, why not try to complete the notice period?
