How Can I Prove My Innocence to My New Employer Amid False Claims from My Last Job?

Hi, I am having issues with my last employer. They delayed my salary multiple times and did not pay one month's salary despite multiple reminders. They did not accept my resignation until I paid for the unserved notice period, which was not mentioned in my offer letter, nor did HR mention it until the final settlement. This final settlement also has incorrect details. When I asked for corrections, salary slips, PF details, and paid leave details, they approached my current employer and falsely claimed that I am absconding without resigning and that I have their sensitive documents and passwords.

My new company has issued me a show-cause notice to be verified within 24 hours. I got scared and accepted their final settlement request, but the HR is not communicating via email, instead sending me WhatsApp messages with account details, asking for the settlement payment. When I requested an email, she said she would send it after two days. I don't know what to do or how to save my current job since I only have a few hours to prove myself. I have been living on borrowed money since August this year. Please help. I am begging if someone can get me out of this mess.

Well, the best way would have been to go to your current HR and provide full details, including proof that they have delayed and not paid your salary for a month.

In any case, what makes you think you do not owe them the notice period just because there is no mention of paying for the notice period in your offer letter? You are required to serve the notice period. If you didn't, obviously you are absconding, and their email to your current company is obviously right.

Even now, I have no idea why you are responding to their emails. Do you think the company will consider you not absconding because you are now paying your notice pay?
