Leaving an Off-Roll Job Without Notice: What Consequences Should I Expect?

Indhiran
Dear All, I joined a company 2 months ago in an off-roll capacity. However, I am facing some uncomfortable situations in the workplace and have decided to leave the company soon without serving the notice period. Will there be any repercussions for my actions?

Thank you.

If you are willing to forego your salary/allowance and F&F dues, I do not think you have to face any other hectic issues. Similarly, you should not include this short service in your CV.

Hi, it depends. In a way, it would be better to leave the company instead of working out of compulsion without interest. However, my suggestion is, why not communicate your disinterest to continue in the form of a resignation? At times, some employers or contractors will not insist on a proper notice considering the short service period and the cost factor involved for you during the notice period. It depends on your role and responsibilities within the company.

Considerations for Leaving Without Notice
Please note that the company or contractor will not consider you for rehire if you leave without informing them. You may need to forego your settlement, experience, and relieving certificate as well.

Although I haven't signed an appointment letter, I am confused. Can an employer send a show cause notice if I do not serve the notice period or pay in lieu of the salary for the notice period? I have only signed the offer letter, which was not mentioned in the statement above.

Kindly clarify this for me!

Thanks in advance!

Leaving the organization without serving the notice period also leaves a bad impression on the employee when they join another organization. It also creates unnecessary trouble in settling PF and other final dues. Therefore, it is always better to serve the notice period or to get official acknowledgment (stamp and sign) on the resignation letter.
