Pension and PF Application Rejected Due to Wrong DOB: How Can We Fix This?

Target_1995
Greetings Everyone, Writing this on behalf of my father, who was earlier working for a factory that closed 10 years ago. My father applied for the pension and PF amount using a scheme certificate. We received an SMS stating that the amount will be dispatched shortly. However, as of 9.21, dad received a call stating his date of birth (DOB) isn't matching with the proof of documents submitted. This was a fault from the old company's end where they entered the wrong DOB. Since there is an error in the DOB, the application is rejected. Could anyone suggest what action needs to be taken to rectify the DOB in the scheme certificate?

As per my knowledge, if you have valid proof of date of birth (such as a school certificate, birth certificate, or passport), you need to fill out the Joint Declaration Form attached with Aadhar, PAN, and date of birth proof. You should sign the form along with any signature and stamp of a government gazetted officer, and then submit it to the EPFO office.

Gurupada, the factory closed 10 years ago. So, I think a joint declaration is not possible in this case. Is there any other way you can suggest to them?

Hi, Please contact the respective PF office to correct the DOB proof and also submit a self-declaration (notary attested as they might ask). They will be able to resolve the issue.

Concern with the Relevant PF Office
You can submit the bank manager's or labour officer's signature on the joint declaration and undertaking with the required documents if the PF department asks.

Hi Saswata Banerjee, as mentioned above, when the factory is closed, you can have your correction letter and ID proof signed by any government gazetted officer and submit it to the PF office.
