Legal Requirement for Issuing Relieving Letters: Am I Obligated After Notice Period Completion?

Suresh Jakhotiya
Dear Sir, I would like to know whether I am bound to issue a relieving letter to an employee who has resigned and completed his notice period. If yes, under what act or law?

Regards, Suresh

The relieving from service is as per the contract of service and the organizational rules and regulations. There is no specific statute attached to it. The terminal benefits like last salary, payment of leave salary, gratuity, and bonus are linked with the respective statutes provided you are covered therein.
