Facing BGV Issues: How to Handle Missing Bank Statements and Form 16 When Your Previous Company Is Unresponsive?

mounika-kattakole
I joined the company last year, but after one year, my new company started BGV and informed me that my previous company is on the suspect list. They are requesting my Form 16 and bank statements. I don't have the bank statements because the customer ID is not working. Additionally, HR promised to send the Form 16, but they haven't sent it yet, and nobody is responding. Furthermore, I'm unsure if the company still exists. What should I do? Should I submit my resignation, or should I wait for the company's decision?

How can you not have a bank statement? Surely you kept copies! Otherwise, you can always go to the bank and ask for a copy of your statement. They are bound by law to provide it. They may, at most, charge you for the same.

Form 16 and Tax Deductions
Form 16 would also be available to you on the Income Tax Portal. You should be able to obtain a copy or show tax deductions in the 26AS.

If you don't have that either, then I doubt whether you actually worked in that company or simply used fake documents.

I don't see why you need to resign just yet. Logically, you should communicate with HR, explain your position, and await their decision.
