Provident Fund Calculation: How Do You Determine the Basic Salary from Gross?

navabharat.yakub@gmail.com
Kindly suggest, at the time of provident fund calculation, what should be the basic of gross salary? For a gross salary of 14,000/-, how much should the basic be?

For a salary of Rs 14,000 per month, the entire amount should go to PF, and even if you bifurcate it, you should consider the entire amount as PF qualifying salary. At least you should consider the statutory minimum wages fixed by the government for your industry or an industry related to yours. Every payment, like bonus, leave encashment, and gratuity at the time of discharge, is linked to the statutory minimum wages. Then why should you not put PF on that wage?
