Living in Company Housing: Can You Still Get HRA and Claim Tax Exemption?

If anyone stays in the company-provided studio apartment, which includes food and lodging facilities, will House Rent Allowance (HRA) be added to their basic salary? If yes, can they claim the tax exemption?

In this case, the husband and wife work in different cities and do not own a house. The wife is living on rent with their two children.

Where the accommodation provided is of bachelor type and the family stays elsewhere on rent, the employee can get HRA with respect to the station where the family is kept. Since the employee has to pay rent for his family's accommodation, he is entitled to a tax exemption. (Please confirm this with an IT practitioner).
