It is advisable to avoid it. I had the experience of it. At times when the unions became aggressive, they created some embarrassment for the top executives staying alongside the factory. Otherwise, this had helped in such people being available 24/7, and the response time was greatly reduced.

There is no specific law for or against it. However, it is a bad idea to have them live inside the factory premises as it messes up attendance and time records. It is better to have it outside, or to demarcate the residential area from the factory license.

The answer will depend on whether the person is staying alone or with family.
