Dear Seniors, Can the Principal Employer remit the ESI deducted amount for contract employees along with factory employees from their registered account?
Yes, the Principal Employer (PE) can deposit ESI contributions using the PE's code for contract labor. It is advisable to select a contractor who has ESIC and PF registration to avoid any future complications.

If the contractor does not have separate ESI/EPF registration, then certainly, the ESI/PF contributions for the contractor's workers should be remitted by the Principal Employer under the Principal Employer's registration. The amount paid shall be recovered from the contractor while settling the contractor's bill.
