Facing AMC Renewal Fees Without Benefits: How Can I Challenge My Software Supplier?

Hi, I am running an engineering design company. I purchased the software license for 3 machines, including AMC up to 2018. From 2019 to 2021, I did not renew the AMC. In 2022, I want to renew the AMC, but the software supplier said that I need to pay the AMC cost for the years 2019 to 2021 to be eligible for the 2022 AMC. The yearly AMC for the three software is nearly 11 lakh.

I am concerned that from 2019 to 2021, I could not receive any support or utilize the AMC. Is there a rule that mandates payment even when the AMC benefits are not utilized? Could you kindly advise on how to address this issue with the software company? This company is known for mistreating and intimidating small-scale companies into purchasing their software.

These are things you should check and verify before buying the software. Incidentally, what stops you from buying new software rather than paying for 3 years? All things in this regard are not known to us, and you have not disclosed it either. We don't know the cost of the software, AMC, or its importance. How will any external person give you the answer to this question then?

Anyway, you need to review the EULA that came with the software and talk to a lawyer who can take up the matter in consumer court or file an unfair trade practice complaint.
