Opening PF account if employee left without notice period

Sanket kashid
Employee served 24 days and left without serving any notice period. We are not going to pay any salary or Basic pay to the employee, do we need to still contribute PF for the days employee came to office

Hi,

Forfeiture of salary against shortfall in notice period and paying pf contribution both are different. while you can forfeit the payable salary towards shortfall in notice period you cannot hold the PF payable to PF office. Even one or two days PF deducted should be compulsorily deposited with the PF office.
