Urgent Help Needed: Do We Need to Register with Mathadi Sanghtana and What Are the 2022-2023 Rates?

Hi everyone, we are in the glass engineering/fabrication industry. We have lifters and cranes for loading and unloading glass. Please let me know if we still need to register under Mathadi Sanghtana.

Can anyone please help me out with the rates of Mathadi Kamgar for the years 2022-2023? All are requested to advise me on this as it is very urgent.

Engagement of Mathadi Workers

Mathadi workers are required to be engaged if you want to hire labor for loading and unloading work using external labor. If you have your own permanent employees, then there is no need to register with Mathadi and use their people.

We are a manufacturing engineering company, and we have been in this business for the past 45 years. Recently, we were approached by the local Mathadi association to register our company with their board. We do undergo loading and unloading jobs, but they are mostly done through crane support, with hardly any manpower required. Nonetheless, we have adequate internal workers to take care of these tasks.

We do not intend to get involved in registering ourselves with the Mathadi board as we are aware of the hassles involved. We request you to guide us with your knowledge and support. We would like to understand the applicability of Mathadi workers for factories in Maharashtra, whether it is mandatory to get registered with the Mathadi board, and if it is necessary to hire Mathadi workers when the factory already has a sufficient number of permanent workers for loading work. Additionally, we seek advice on the measures we should take to avoid registration and overcome this issue.

Firstly, you need to understand the definition of the Mathadi and Hamal laborer. If any activity like loading, unloading, stacking, or sorting is done manually, then you should engage the Mathadi laborers through the Mathadi board. As you mentioned, if these activities are done by the crane and the lifter, it means there is no manual work being carried out in your establishment. Hence, there is no need to register under the Mathadi board or engage Mathadi laborers.
