Confused About EPFO Name Mismatch? Here's How to Handle Bank and PF Differences

I have a question, or rather a confusion. In my PF account, my name is Arjun R P, while in my bank account, it's my full name. I have been applying for my PF since 2019 and have faced no problem. However, now all of a sudden, when I applied for my PF, I received a message stating that my name should be updated with my bank as it should match the one in my PF account. What should I do? Previously, I had no issues withdrawing my money even though the names were different in my PF and bank accounts.

Aadhar and PF Name Matching: A Guide

Now everything is linked to your Aadhar, and the process is online. The system will not accept any slight change in the name or date of birth. Earlier, the Aadhar only contained the year of birth, which was sufficient when the UAN was introduced. However, now that the system matches the name and other details with Aadhar, everything has become complicated. This is why claim requests often get rejected.

Steps to Ensure Name Consistency

It is advisable to update the name in your Aadhar to match your school and educational certificates, as well as your bank records. You can update your name at an Aadhar facilitation center and at the bank. Alternatively, if the name in your PF records is incorrect, change it through your member portal and ensure employer approval. Minor changes can be made through the online portal; otherwise, you may need to submit an offline joint declaration.
