Notice Period Dilemma: Do You Get Paid Even If You're Not Working?

Ahmed Muneer Ali
I was an employee at X Company where I worked for 6 months. I informed the company about my resignation and requested a 1-month notice period to search for another job, to which they agreed. However, I am unsure if I will be paid for this notice period.

Will the employer provide salary to the employee during the notice period even if the employee is not working during that time?

Clarifying Payment During Notice Period

Wouldn't it be easier to ask your HR head whether you are getting paid for the notice period? If you resigned with a notice period and are working for them during that time, they will pay you. If they agreed to let you leave without completing the notice period, then obviously they are not going to pay you. In effect, in such a case, the notice period has been waived off.
