Should I Sign a Non-Compete Agreement for a Full-Time Job Offer from a US Company?

I am currently in India and have been working for a company on a freelance basis for the last 3 years that is USA-based. They have recently offered me a full-time job like an employee with all the perks and benefits.

They have extended similar offers to others who are non-USA based and have been successful in doing so. Last week, they sent an Independent Contract Agreement to make it official. However, the contract includes a Non-Compete clause for a period of 2 years.

My question is, should I sign it?

If I do sign it, can I ask for an upfront payment (compensation) for agreeing to the Non-Compete clause?

I understand that in the majority of U.S. states, non-compete clauses in employment contracts are legally valid, subject to the reasonableness of their operative duration and geographical limits. You can request consideration for yourself, if any, and then sign according to your choice based on the experiences of others in the past.
