Performance appraisal (April to March) - employee joins in the month of January, will he be eligible for appraisal?

Dear HR Professionals, If the performance appraisal period would be April to March, I wanted to know if anyone joins in the month of January, will that employee be eligible for appraisal in the month of April. Cause it will be only 3 months, that employee joined the organization. Also if someone joins in the month of November or December, would that employee also be eligible for appraisal in the month of April.
Please advise. Appreciate your help.

Thanks for your query , and it is very well to clear your doubts. The agenda is very simple, It depends on the company , but as per my experience , a minimum of 6 month tenure is required to be enrolled in appraisal cycle.

Every organisation has to decide a minimum period of service before being put to assessment. It depends on the nature of work being assigned. Where it is an individual working independently, for instance Sales personnel, Programmers, designers etc it could be even three months or six months with the targets suitably reduced but in areas of group working anything less than six months is difficult to assess.
Alternately, you may assess after the probation is over, may be one year and thereafter fix small targets for the next March end and assess accordingly.
