Standing Orders for Retail Stores

Are Standing Orders applicable to retail stores where more than 100/200 employees are working?

1. Please suggest any exemptions for retail stores.
2. The Standing Orders Act, as applicable, states (e.g., in Karnataka, it applies to industrial establishments where 50 (fifty) or more workmen are employed at any point in time). Which states are exempted?
3. Is the Standing Order applicable for consultancy services where more than 100 employees are working?

Dear Members,

Please clarify:

1. Is there any exemption from the Industrial Employment Standing Orders for retail stores and healthcare industries in Karnataka? (Is it applicable or not?)

2. Is there any exemption from the Industrial Employment Standing Orders for establishments defined under The Karnataka Shops & Establishment Act 1961?

Thank you.

Dear Saswata, as per the above query, I am specifically asking about the applicability for retail stores where more than 100 employees are working in Karnataka/Maharashtra. If the Industrial Employment Standing Order is applicable, please share a notification.

Standing Orders for Shops and Establishments

Every shop and establishment is covered under standing orders if it has more than 50 employees in that particular location.

At one point, they had an exemption for IT and ITES companies, but I am not sure if it has been withdrawn thereafter or extended.
