Is an Employee Entitled to a Salary Increase During Their Notice Period? Seeking Guidance

Meenu Sachdeva
Dear Seniors/Professionals,

Greetings! An employee is currently serving the notice period and is scheduled to be relieved in mid-April. The company's Performance Management System (PMS) cycle runs from April to March.

Since the employee submitted their resignation in March, the company has overlooked their appraisal process.

Entitlement to Salary and Increment During Notice Period

Is the employee entitled to receive a new salary for the remaining 15 days and an increment letter from the current organization? Or does an employee forfeit the right to an appraisal once they have resigned?

Your guidance on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

In most organizations, once the employee resigns, that is the end of the appraisal process and consequent actions. Though this is widely practiced, there may not be any rule to this effect. Please check the position at your place.

Principle Perspective on Increments

From a principle perspective, an increment is due and payable on completion of one year of service. There is no bar on granting an increment during the notice period, although the service conditions are kept the same during the notice period.
