Installing a 3000 KVA Diesel Generator in Gujarat: What Approvals Do I Need?

At our site in Gujarat, we are in the process of installing a diesel generator of 3000 KVA for emergency purposes only. Do I have to obtain any approvals from the Electricity Board, Pollution Control Board, or any certificate from a third party? If yes, I also request you to send the written requirements of the statutory bodies. Please help me.

Approval Requirements for Diesel Generator Installation

Yes, clearance or approval is needed from the State Electricity Department (or Electricity Regulatory Board or the Power Distribution Company, depending on the local regulations) and the Pollution Control Board (which should be included in the Consent to Operate).

The approval from the Pollution Control Board is required before the actual use of the DG Set. More accurately, it is needed once the DG Set is ready for use, regardless of whether it is used or not.
