Hello, I recently received an offer letter from a potential employer. In the offer letter, they specified a joining date and requested that I start working on that particular day. However, a mere two days before my intended start date, the HR department contacted me with the news that they could not proceed with the hiring process as I am not a graduate.
During the interview process, I had explicitly stated that I am an undergraduate. This information is also clearly stated in my resume, which I had previously shared with them. Now, the HR department claims that the company's policy does not permit hiring undergraduates. This is despite the fact that I had accepted the offer they provided me following their initial acceptance of my candidature.
As a consequence of this sudden turn of events, I am currently without a job. I am keen to understand the recourse available to me in such a situation. Is it reasonable for me to expect any form of compensation from the employer for this apparent oversight on their part? Given my financial obligations, being unemployed even for a single month is something I cannot afford.
I would appreciate any advice on this matter.
