Background Verification Worry: Will Using an Old Address Cause Issues?

For job background verification, if I provide an address where neither I nor my family currently resides (I have the address on my driver's license and passport) because I stayed there during college, what could happen? Will this cause my background verification to fail?

If it's an MNC, many times they may send people, even with bouquets, to verify your residence. You should have given your current address. It depends on the organization; in this pandemic, people are staying in their native places and attending interviews through Skype and others.
