I hope you are mentioning Maternity leave and not Maintenance Leave. Please clarify so that our forum members can clarify your doubts.

Whatever may be the type of leave, it is not usually encouraged during notice period, if the employee takes leave his/ her notice period usually extended. I hope the leave you are talking about is specific to your organisation.

There is no hard and fast rules on this, its at the discretion of the management to provide you leave during period.
