Internally transferred me to another group company - Effect of Date of joining in EPF

C v saraf
I joined my company in May 2006. After four months, they internally transferred me to another group company. Then, in 2011, I was once again internally transferred back to the first company. However, in the EPFO records, my date of joining is shown as 1.08.2011. I am wondering if this is correct, as all Provident Fund (PF) amounts have been transferred to the current company. I am concerned about the impact of the Date of Joining (DOJ) on the Employees' Provident Fund (EPF).

Dear Colleague,

Transfer from one company to another does not affect your date of joining into PF. The very first day of joining is your date of joining as far as PF is concerned. Now, please check with your current company whether Company A and B have one single PF Employer Code or different codes. If they are the same, then it is the same employer code, and you will also be given the same PF number, so your PF accumulations will be in one account number.

If both companies have different PF numbers, and you are also given different PF numbers in Companies A and B, then you have to apply to transfer your PF accumulations to your current PF number. This has to be done online, for which your current employer's HR will help you.
