Undertaking a review of HR Functions: Recruitment, Workforce Planning & Performance Management

I am studying Human Resources Management and currently undertaking a review of functions in our organization. What key things should you be looking for during the process of reviewing your organisation's functions? Or, are there any vital factors that should be considered when it comes to the specific functions I am reviewing? They are:
- Recruitment
- workforce planning
- performance management
